UIC Holds AMCP P&T Competition

The UIC College of Pharmacy student chapter of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) held its 2018 Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Competition on Friday, January 26. Seventeen teams of 4 students each competed. The top 3 teams advanced to the final round held on Friday, February 2. The winning team was comprised of Samuel Hong, Jae Hyun Lee, Kevin Meyer, and David Silva. In second place was the team of Jeremy Capulong, Ashley Cha, Alissa Lee, and Rosemarie Tagare. Third place went to Jaron Lopez, Sally Luvsantseren, Michael Robles, and Jim Ternig. Special thank goes to Shirley Huang, VP and P&T Coordinator, the AMCP student members who participated, and the faculty and alumni who judged the competition.

UIC’s first place team with have a chance to participate in the national competition held at the AMCP Annual Conference in April 2018. This will be determined after review of their written reports, monograph, recommendations and presentation. Only 8 teams are selected from colleges across the nation for this.

The UIC College of Pharmacy established the first ever student chapter of AMCP and the national P&T competition originated here. Today there are approximately 60 chapters competing in this competition. Faculty advisors for the UIC chapter are Margaret Byun and Christine Rash-Foanio.
