Dr. Qato's Research Receives Media Attention
Dr. Dima Qato, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy and Affiliate in the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research, has been all over the media lately. Within a matter of days her work on pharmacy deserts was featured in the Chicago Tribune, on WBEZ’s Morning Shift radio program and WTTW’s show Chicago Tonight.
Dr. Qato’s research on 'pharmacy deserts' found communities in Chicago, predominantly on the south and west side, that had limited access to pharmacies. These communities did not have pharmacies within one-half to one mile of their location in the city. This research was published in the journal Health Affairs.
