Below is a sampling of the diverse scope of the Department's research and teaching activities, with both basic science and clinical interests.  To learn more about the research interests of the Department, please visit the individual faculty pages.

The Department has a wide range of research interests including: medicinal chemistry, natural products drug discovery and chemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, computational chemistry, LC-MS analysis and target bioassays, chemical toxicology, and others.

A number of the members of the Department are also involved with other research centers such as: the UIC/NIH Center for Botanical Dietary Supplement Research in Women's Health, the Center for Biomolecular Sciences, the Institute for Tuberculosis Research, the Program for Collaborative Research in the Pharmaceutical Sciences and the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine.
