Overview:
Stephanie Y. Crawford, PhD, MPH, is an educator, researcher, pharmacist, and public health advocate. She is Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs & Strategic Initiatives and professor in the Department of Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy at the UIC College of Pharmacy. She holds a joint appointment as professor in the Department of Medical Education, is an Honors College Fellow, and is an affiliate faculty member in the UIC Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomic Research. She was selected as a 2021-2022 Fellow for the President’s Executive Leadership Program, University of Illinois System. Since 2015, she has chaired the United States Pharmacopeia Expert Committee on Nomenclature and Labeling, which establishes the official title of all drug products in the U.S. She was a charter member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Advisory Committee on Drug Safety and Risk Management (DSaRM) and has continued to serve as a consultant and ad hoc voting member for the DSaRM since 2003. From December 2020 through early 2023, she was appointed as a member of the Chicago Department of Public Health COVID-19 Vaccine Scientific Advisory Committee.

Research Interests:
Research interests focus on health equity, access, and disparities reduction in safe and effective medication use. This includes targeted research on rural and inner-city populations, low-income populations, underserved minority populations, and the elderly. Related scholarly interests address research and curricular assessments in serving diverse populations. Research areas include pharmacy and health systems evaluation (e.g., medication adherence, safe medication use, optimized use of technologies) and associated patient-centered medication outcomes.
