Overview:
Dr. Brendan Steiner is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy. His clinical expertise lies in solid organ transplantation, with prior advanced training at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center and the University of Chicago Medicine. He is actively involved in transplant patient care at UI Health and contributes to institutional committees focused on immunosuppression, infectious complications, and multidisciplinary transplant care.

Research Interests:
Dr. Steiner’s research focuses on optimizing pharmacologic management in solid organ transplantation, with particular emphasis on the infectious implications of augmented immunosuppressive therapy, with a growing focus on opportunistic fungal pathogens and invasive mold infections. His work has been presented nationally and internationally and appears in several peer-reviewed journals.

Teaching Statement:
Dr. Steiner is engaged in both didactic and experiential teaching at UIC, serving as a lecturer for the Advanced Transplant Therapeutics elective and a preceptor for PharmD students on inpatient medicine, ambulatory care, and transplant rotations. He also mentors international visiting scholars and is dedicated to fostering clinical reasoning and evidence-based decision-making among future pharmacists.
