Center Life

The Center for Biomolecular Sciences is located in UIC’s Medical (West) Campus, minutes from downtown Chicago. The Center is highly multicultural and international. It unites faculty, research scientists, staff, graduate students from more than a dozen different countries. Our daily mutual lunches, bi-monthly international pot luck parties, summer beach volleyball gatherings and holiday parties help us to get to know each other, respect and care about each other. We are an eclectic group offering a vibrant research atmosphere in a world-class city.

New graduate students are immediately integrated into the life of the Center through their coursework, research rotations, and our weekly seminars. After three 10-week long laboratory rotations, students choose their research area and Ph.D. advisor, while maintaining intellectual and scientific contacts with other labs. The Center's faculty encourage students and postdoctoral fellows to initiate and pursue collaborations within the Center and beyond.
