Funding Opportunities

The Vahlteich Award supports faculty research projects. Deadlines are in late October or early November of each year.

The Riback Award provides intensive summer research experience for PharmD students interested in careers in biomedical research. Deadlines are in March of each year.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship/SURF.  This ASPET funded fellowship provides 10 weeks of paid research experience for undergraduate students interested in biomedical research. Deadline are in February of each year.

Pharmacology Industry Internships for PhD Students/PIIPS. This ASPET funded award provudes a paid internship at a pharamceutical company for UIC College of Pharmacy graduate students interested in industrial careers. Deadlines are in March of each year.

The Image Competition awards prizes for the best technical or creative images generated by our trainees (both graduate students and postdocs) in the course of their research.  Everyone in the College votes for their favorite image. Competition runs in early fall.

Other Funding Sources lists funding announcements relevant to faculty members and pre- and post-doctoral trainees in the College. It also provides links to funding searches, searchable databases, UIC resources, as well as downloadable lists of regular funding opportunities for faculty and students and additional resources.

CCTS Pre-doctoral Education for Clinical and Translational Scientists (PECTS) Program. This is a funding opportunity sponsored by UIC Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences for graduate students entering year 3 or 4 of their study. Application deadline is in summer. Research Training in Natural Product Complementary and Alternative Medicine. This NIH/NCCIH training grant was awarded to the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy to support six predoctoral and three postdoctoral trainees in the field of natural products research with emphasis on complementary and alternative medicine.
