On Saturday, April 1st, the UIC College of Pharmacy at Rockford hosted its 3rd annual High School Pharmacy Camp (HSPC). The HSPC allows students to explore the field of pharmacy through instruction and activities led by current PharmD and PhD students. Over 40 students applied to the HSPC from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

Forty-one students were selected to attend the camp from 9 AM to 1:00 PM and enjoyed hands-on activities in the dispensing and compounding lab. Current PharmD students provided one-on-one attention and led the attendees through prescription activities and compounding activities. During the experience, attendees also learned about the variety of career paths in pharmacy. PhD students showcased the research opportunities at the Rockford campus.

Allie H., an attendee from Chicago, IL, said, "I had such a great time today. I can't wait until next year!"

The HSPC also included a parents' session which was comprised of a tour of campus and a presentation on career paths in pharmacy, admission requirements and the UIC College of Pharmacy PharmD program.
