Rockford Faculty and Students Start Research Study Focused on Elderly
Rockford PharmD students, Morgan Bollech, Nicole Johnson, Angel Lintz, Amolee Patel, Jami Weiland, and Erica Wyckstandt, and faculty members Drs. Olson and Khare started enrollment for a new research study. This study is examining prescription label comprehension and functional health literacy in the elderly. Participants are currently being recruited at the Keen Age Center in Belvidere, IL, and will continue until 250 people are enrolled.
This study is possible through collaborations with the Boone County Council on Aging, Western University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy, UIC COP Office of Advancement, and UIC College of Pharmacy.
Established in 1859, the UIC College of Pharmacy stands as the oldest academic unit of the University of Illinois, one of the largest and most comprehensive research universities in the nation. Our College enjoys a national reputation for excellence and has been ranked among the top colleges of pharmacy for scholarship, curriculum, and the quality of faculty and students.
In 2010, the College of Pharmacy added an additional campus in Rockford, IL where students can benefit from small class sizes and personalized attention. Students in Rockford complete the identical curriculum as students on the Chicago campus. The core classes are taught via distance education using state-of-the-art technology.
