Download iCal FilePlease join us for the 52nd Annual Albert Ebert Lecture, with a lecture from Dr. Deanna Horner, PharmD, BCPS (PGY1 UIC). This event is open to UIC faculty, staff, students, preceptors, and alumni.
Dr. Horner is Chief Pharmacy Officer for UnitedHealthcare Government Programs. Her team’s mission is to help UHC members and providers identify and access high value, clinically appropriate drug therapies that improve patient health and safety. In her role, she is accountable for formulary and trend, pharmaceutical pipeline, competitive intelligence, clinical programs, utilization policy, specialty drug management, and clinical operations.
Dr. Horner is a licensed pharmacist in CA, IL, and KY and is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). She earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with Chemistry Minor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). She completed a PGY1 Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Horner was a critical care pharmacist at UCSF Medical Center before transitioning to a clinical pharmacy manager role for Tenet to develop both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy programs and providing clinical informatics support during transitions to more automated systems. She joined UHC in 2016 to build a pharmacy team focused on improving medication adherence within the broader Stars quality organization. She transitioned to her current team in 2020 to enhance medical benefit drug management programs and has continued to broaden her scope of work since that time.
