Overview:
Terry W. Moore is an Associate Professor and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research program focuses on designing, synthesizing, and characterizing new small molecule and peptide probes to modulate a number of different protein targets. Dr. Moore’s lab at UIC uses the tools of synthetic medicinal chemistry, peptide chemistry, drug discovery and chemical biology. Dr. Moore is extensively involved in the national and international medicinal chemistry community. Dr. Moore is a Topic editor at ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters and has served as a guest editor at Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology. He has served on the Long-Range Planning committee of the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry and has been on the steering committees of national and international conferences in medicinal chemistry. Dr. Moore was named the UIC “Rising Star” Researcher of the Year for the Basic Life Sciences in 2018.

Drug Discovery; medicinal chemistry; peptide chemistry

Teaching Statement:
Dr. Moore teaches in the PharmD and PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences curricula at UIC. He is the Director of Graduate Studies for Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Concentration Coordinator for Chemistry in Drug Discovery.

Dr. Moore teaches in several team-taught courses, including PHAR 422: Fundamentals of Drug Action I; PSCI 530: Principles of Medicinal Chemistry; PSCI 531: Spectroscopy in Pharmaceutical Sciences; PSCI 501: Drug Discovery, Design and Development.

He mentors junior faculty, research faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
