Apply to the BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences Program

Students interested in the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) typically fall into three categories:

  • High school students*
  • UIC undergraduate students
  • Non-UIC college students

Whether you are a current UIC student or planning to transfer to UIC, the deadline to apply to this program is Monday, March 3, 2025.

Information about eligibility to apply to the program and the process can be found below. If you have questions about the application process, please email bspharm@uic.edu or fill out our form.

*Please note that high school students are not eligible for direct admission to the BSPS Program, but they have several alternatives described below.

UIC students who meet the BSPS admission requirements are eligible to apply to the program by completing our application by Monday, March 3, 2025.

Application: Link to the application.

Letter of Recommendation:  One letter is required. The letter must come from an academic source (e.g. professor/TA or academic advisor).  Information about the letter of recommendation will be sent automatically to the recommender using the email address provided during the application process.

To apply to the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (BSPS) program, transfer students must complete the UIC Transfer Application by March 3, 2025, which is earlier than the regular UIC Transfer deadline.

High school seniors seeking admission to their first year of college are not eligible to apply to the BSPS program. They typically apply to a major within the UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences using the Common App. Once they meet the BSPS admission requirements, they will apply to the BSPS Program as a UIC applicant (internal transfer).

High school seniors with a strong academic background who already know they want to pursue the PharmD degree at UIC have the opportunity to apply to UIC’s Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions (GPPA) program. GPPA offers students the security of guaranteed admission to the PharmD program while they pursue their undergraduate degree.

GPPA is separate from the BSPS program, but students can be both GPPA and BSPS students if they are admitted to both. Students who have GPPA for the PharmD are not required to major in Pharmaceutical Sciences/BSPS, however the BSPS is the only UIC major that will allow them to reduce the total time to graduation by one full year.
